Qualifications for Application

General Admission

Those for whom any of the following apply.
  1. Those who have graduated from a university which requires 4 years or more to graduate, or are expected to graduate from a university in March 2019, or in September 2019.
  2. Those who have been awarded a Bachelor’s Degree as provided in Article 104 of the School Education Law.
  3. Those who have completed 16 years of standard school education overseas or are expected to complete such education in March 2019, or in September 2019.  (*Note)
  4. Those who have been designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
  5. Those who have been enrolled at a university for more than three years or have completed 15 years of standard school education overseas, and have been recognized by the CGU Graduate School Committee as having earned credits with an excellent academic record. (*Note)
  6. Those who have been recognized by the CGU Graduate School Committee as possessing academic ability equivalent to or higher than those who satisfy the requirements 1. (*Note)
    *Note:      For Application Requirements 3, 5, and 6, there may be cases where screening is necessary. Contact the Admission PR Section before the screening of applications begins.

Admission on Recommendation by CGU

For those who satisfy all of the following requirements:
  1. Those who are enrolled in the senior year of the Faculty of Commerce or Law at CGU.
  2. Those who are expected to graduate in March 2019 or in September 2019.
  3. Those who have obtained more than 100 credits out of the credits required for graduation when they completed their junior year.
  4. Those who have an assessment of “excellent “ or higher for the academic criteria at CGU in 50% or more of all of the subjects completed at the end of their junior year. “Acknowledged” subjects due to skipped grades are exempted from assessment. In the fourth term admission, those who have an assessment of “excellent” or higher for the academic criteria at CGU in 50% or more of all of the subjects completed at the end of the eighth semester.

Special Admission for Returning Applicants

Those who satisfy the admission requirements of general admission and graduated from a university more than two years ago as of April 2019

Special Admission for International Students

Those who satisfy all of the following requirements.
  1. Those who satisfy the admission requirements for general admission and whose native language is not Japanese.
  2. Those who have acquired or can renew the status of resident “student”.

Application Materials and Application Fee

Standard Materials

Make sure to fill in the name of your high school in the box for academic background.
Fill in the name of your first and second preference for supervisors.
(3)Photo ID Certificate and Examination CertificateWrite your full name and address clearly and put on the necessary stamps when submitting by postal service
(4)Research PlanPrescribed Form (in approximately 1600 characters)
(5)Transcripts (original records)Those who have graduated, or are expected to graduate, from a graduate school must submit the transcripts of both their university and their graduate school.
Attach a Japanese translation (any format) for educational records in foreign languages.
(6) Certificate of (expected) Graduation (original certificate)Those who graduated or are expected to graduate from a graduate school must submit a certificate from both their university and their graduate school.
Attach a Japanese translation (in any form) for certificates in foreign languages
Optional Materials
(1) Letters of Recommendation (sealed)Applicants for General Admission:
Letters written by the supervising professor of your seminar or any relevant   professor of your university.
Applicants for Returning Admission:
Letters written by your supervisor in your firm or public agencies you belong to.
(2) Approval of Application Letter (sealed)Applicants for Returning Admission:
Certificate stating that the supervisor approved the application for admission.
(3) Printed Materials, Thesis, etc.Only those who want to submit them.
Materials for International Applicant
(1) Certificate of ResidenceA certificate which shows the status of residence and period of stay and which was issued within the past three months.
(2) Photocopy of both sides of the residence card 
(3) Bachelor’s Degree certificate (a photocopy is acceptable.)
 * Only those eligible for general admission requirements 3, 5 and 6.
Attach a Japanese translation (in any format) if the certificate is in a foreign language.
(4) Photocopy of passportThose who have obtained a passport should submit photocopies of the page where entry and departure can be confirmed and the page  with a photo of the face.
(5) Document which proves Japanese language proficiencyA photocopy of the notification of the results of the NI, Level 1 Japanese Language Proficiency Test, or the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (in Japanese). (The examination must be performed by the Japan Educational Exchange and Services or Japan Student Services Organization.)

(1) Major subject <60 minutes>Choose one of the seven questions in the examination for your major subject and answer it.
(2) Foreign language (English) <60 minutes>Choose one of the two questions from “Japanese translation of specialized English accounting or management content” (Paper English dictionaries are permitted. Electronic dictionaries are not permitted.)
(3) Essay (in Japanese) <60 minutes>Choose and answer one of the four questions in “Japanese essay (about questions related to accounting and management)”.
(Japanese dictionaries are not permitted.)
(4) Oral examinationInterview test focusing on your research plan during two graduate school years. In addition to your research plan, you may be asked about such things as your motives for applying, the contents of the examinations held in your major subject, your foreign language and essay, your bachelor’s thesis or future career after graduation.

Announcement of Results

On the date the results are announced in each term, the results will be sent by postal service to all the applicants themselves regardless of passing or not. A “Certificate of Admission” and a “Guide to Entrance Procedures” will be enclosed for successful applicants.
No inquiries about admission results will be accepted.

Graduate School Orientation

The Graduate School of Commerce (Master’s Course) will hold an orientation that will explain the key features of the school and provide an overview as well as an outline of the 4th term entrance examination.

Reservations are not required. CGU students, as well as those who are not CGU students, are free to join the session. Those who want to study in the graduate school, or are interested in finding out more about the graduate school, are most welcome to join us.
